In Martalli we have a health centre, catering to the health needs of the people of 22 villages of 15-20 K.M of radius, since 60 years. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people. This area is known to be drought prone, surrounded with hills. Very often we find the cases with poisonous snake bites, scorpion sting, centipede sting, and many more poisonous creatures sting, respiratory diseases and gastro-enteritis. Many children with emergencies are brought to our health centre. To treat all these emergencies with close observation by the doctors, we were in need of a doctor’s room cum treatment room with toilet attached including for the caretakers of the patient to be along.
We placed this request to Suryodaya to support us for this project. We gratefully appreciate and remember you for supporting us to make a big difference in the lives of poor and needy people especially for the women and children and the elderly, enabling to receive basic health facilities.
The work of clearing the place and preparing for the foundation was started in november 2015. The Foundation stone was laid on 13th November 2015. The work went on stage by stage. The foundation with pillars, concreting top, and flooring with granite is done. Plastering, painting, fixing of the windows with mesh, doors, electrical work etc. is completed with the help of generous contributions. As the materials for the construction have been expensive, we had to depend on the generous people for the completion of the rooms. Now we are happy along with the patients who come to us. We feel comfortable with the timely care and support to the care takers. The building was blessed on the 8th of March 2016 by Fr. Joseph Raj, the coordinator for the Suryodaya-projects, and inaugurated by Mr. John who had taken much interest towards implementation of this project. It was a great joy for us along with the patients. Now we are using this room for treating the patients. People of these villages are very happy with this type of facility, where their time, energy, financial stress will be reduced and they can attain timely treatment and healing.
We gratefully thank the Suryodaya members for your generous contribution and support to our health centre. We appreciate your concern and care towards the village level peoples’ development. I know how hard it is to contribute to make a difference in the people’s life. This great gift is remembered and we pray for you.
Thank you and God Bless, Sincerely yours, Sr. Florine Fernandes, FMM
